Energy Boost
If you’re feeling tired, drained or uninspired, your iron levels could be the cause. Low iron is common, especially amongst women (due to our monthly cycle), and makes it difficult for the body to produce haemoglobin, essential for the transport of oxygen to your brain, muscles and cells. The main symptoms of low iron include fatigue, headaches, light-headedness, inability to focus, shortness of breath, pale lips and gums, dry hair and skin, and weak nails.
If you are feeling some of the symptoms above, a good dose of iron in your diet could be the key to feeling better. The great thing about this super nutritious smoothie is that it not only is rich in iron (from the spinach, kale and pumpkin seeds), but it also includes heaps of vitamin C (orange juice and kale) which helps increase the absorption of iron to our cells. The best part is, this boost of iron is in liquid form, making it easy to digest and the perfect go-to meal/snack if you are on the run!
