Hemp seeds are a great source of plant-based protein, containing all of the essential amino acids. They are ‘essential’ because your body does not produce them, so it is important to consume them through certain foods. They are known as the building blocks of the body due to their many important jobs including building cells, repairing tissue, forming antibodies, building RNA & DNA and carrying oxygen through the body. So it’s clear that we wouldn’t survive long without them! This quick and easy smoothie recipe guarantees we are setting our body up with the building blocks it needs to thrive. With the addition of oats and almond butter, you’ll be hitting your daily protein requirements in no time. The hemp seeds, almonds and cacao powder are also great sources of magnesium, an essential micronutrient which helps with energy production, protein synthesis, muscle contraction and nerve signalling. Just like protein, this is great for you during your workout and also helps with recovery afterwards.
